Every Friday tweeters post their #FollowFriday lists on Twitter. Inspired by my friend Sara Chi’s post on her blog, I’m sharing my #FollowFriday recommendations here as well as on Twitter.
First, what is #FollowFriday?
Quite simply, it’s a recommendation I make of people that I believe fellow tweeters would benefit from by following.
So, having said all that, I now present to you my current list of tweeters that I recommend you follow on Twitter:
Business
Some of these people I’ve spoken with on the phone and have connected beyond Twitter, may be doing business with now and in the future. It’s because of their tweets – they provide links to business related blogs, newspaper articles, magazine stories, profiles and statistics that teach me, show me trending information or guide me in a direction suitable for me and my clients. No, not every tweet accomplishes this. But I can count on each of them to provide at least one good link per day. Introducing: @jslconsulting, @ConsultJohn, @DuctTapeMarketing, @RichardUmpleby, @BusinessGenius, @SuzyWelch, @exectweets.
Research
Most of these are research based sites or aggregators, which is a time saver for me! The people I have either met in person or connected online elsewhere, either in association forums or LinkedIn or even Facebook. Either way, they provide links to statistical information, trending data, focused survey results, compilations of online and offline research in various fields and industries. The point is that I can use Twitter to search their tweets and find information from those links. Or, when they do send me someplace interesting that I believe I can use later for myself or my client, I bookmark the site they sent me to. Always good stuff. Social Media
There are no social media gurus out there yet. But there are many of us experienced in using social media for various reasons. Some of us use it for business purposes only, some of us combine business with personal, some of us use only two social media channels, some of us use more than ten! Either way, there are people that I follow that use social media in many different ways but for one purpose – to build relationships. They offer links to new and better platforms, links to recent statistical data, links to YouTube tutorials, links to conferences, and best of all – tweets about themselves. Introducing: @JohniLouise, @unmarketing, @Pistachio, @Lori_SF, @chrisbrogan, @MariSmith, @JasonFalls, @DavidFinch, @copyblogger, @problogger.
I will be the first person to tell you that these lists aren’t definitive. But they are accurate for this week. More importantly, I hope you understand that there is a reason I recommend people. The twitterstream is filled with interesting and intelligent life – and these are a few that I believe can add value to your day. Oh, and if you like that I posted this list please tell me. I’ll happily post the #FollowFriday list every now and again.
So, do you use Twitter? Do you post a #FollowFriday list? How do you list your recommendations? Individually? Grouped? I’d really like to know. Oh, and if you would like to follow me: @CharleneBurke and @SearchbyBurke.
